On the other side of the Landscape, by Jose Agullo
Artist born in Elche and based in Sierra Norte in Madrid since 1984, his creative career embraces over 30 years totally dedicated to painting, backed up by more than 200 exhibitions, among individual and collective, carried out in Spain and other European countries, as well as in the United States and Japan.
He was born and he spent most of his life surrounded by a rural environment, in touch with nature, and that fact has resulted in an abstract work, brimming with lyricism and vindicating its origins, as well as the conscience of its condition and relevance in the Universe.
However, his work is focused on the aesthetic value of painting itself, with no servility to or influence on the shape. His landscapes combine the informalism and geometrical abstraction so both aren’t contrasted, but are melted into a balanced whole where color, textures and composition play the leading role.
Among other, Jose Agullo received the Painting Award by Colegio del Rey Foundation, from Alacala de Henares, in 1984. His work can be seen in private collections in France, Holland, Sweden, Switzerland, Japan and Spain; and the following museums and public collections: San Juan City hall, Alicante; Colegio del Rey Foundation, Alcala de Henares, Madrid; Olorcon City Hall, Madrid; Egyptian Institute of Islamic Studies, Madrid; Casa de la Festa, Elche, Alicante; Metropolitan Museum of Tokyo, Japan; Museum of Contemporary Art in Elche, Alicante; Latin American Forum in Rabida, Palos de la Frontera, Huelva; Museum of Santo Domingo, Cifuentes, Guadalajara; Jose Candela Lledo Culture House, Crevillente City Hall, Alicante; Center of Arts, Alcorcon, Madrid; Cardenal Gonzaga Humanities Center, La Cabrera, Madrid.
